When you wake up on that morning almost certainly you will feel very nervous. This is normally the fear of the unknown.
You will have heard all the horror stories about how dreadful the examiners are, how they will not talk to you or they shout and become very sarcastic!
This is all rubbish. The examiners only mark down what you show them. On the day of your Test you are classed as a perfect driver. You as the driver lose points if you do anything wrong, these are put into three categories minor, serious and dangerous. You can have up to 15 minor marks but only one serious or dangerous mark will fail you. Remember the examiner marks down what you show them. They will not fail you because it is the end of the month or it is a Monday or for any other reason other than the drive you give them.
Remember do what you have been taught and do your best. Do not put on an act. For your Test you will need:
Don't wait until the day of your Test to start looking these out, do it a few days before.
I will pick you up about one hour before your Test time. We will then have the time to go over all the things that have been worrying you since you woke up. We will also go over all the manoeuvres and emergency stop.
We will arrive at the Test Centre about five minutes before the start time.
After we have done a park in a parking bay we will go into the Waiting Room. (There are toilets in the Test Centre), most people need them!
When the examiners come out one of them will call out your name. He will ask you to read and sign the Declaration on top of the Test Sheet, this is only asking if the care you are using is adequately insured. When you have done this he will check your documents. You will then go outside and do an eye sight test. This is reading a number plate from 67 feet. The examiner will then ask you two of the car test questions. You will then be asked to get into your car and he will then explain what he wants you to do, it may be a park in a parking bay or just drive out of the Test Centre.
The examiner will not hold you in conversation, he will only make small talk. Any more than this and he may put you off and cause you to make a mistake.
While you are on a Test don’t try to look at the Test Form the chances are you won’t understand what has been written down and anyway you will get the result when the Test is over.
