Bay Parking

This manoeuvre is only tested in the Test Centre.

Drive into the Test Centre, in front of you there are four bays marked Examiners, stop in front of the second bay from the left.

To your right there are five bays. The first is marked M/S, the others are marked 1,2,3,4. Reverse the car back until your right shoulder is in line with number 1. Quickly turn the steering wheel full lock to the right. The car will miss bay 2 and park in bay 3. When the car is in line with bay 3 turn the steering wheel quickly 11/2 turns to the left and stop. Check both door mirrors to see that you are in line with the bay, if so, slowly let the car roll in.

If you are not in line you have plenty of room in which to adjust it. Do it slowly, don't rush the steering.

This manoeuvre, as do the others, requires lots and lots of observations. Do a 6 point check before you start. Then think of marching, left shoulder, right shoulder, left, right, left, right.

Remember 50% of the marks you get for the manoeuvre are for observations.

If bay 3 already has a car parked in it then reverse back until your right shoulder is level with number 2 then turn as above, you will then park in bay 4.

If both bays 3 and 4 are full then things change. Drive into the Test Centre but this time steer the car towards bays 3 and 4. When you get fairly close to them quickly turn the steering wheel full lock to the left, the car will then do a U turn, keep it going until you are straight or you are close to the kerb. Then put it into reverse and let it roll back into either bay 1 or 2. There will be plenty of room to adjust it. Remember the observations.
